Job summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for 2 qualified Pharmacy
Assistants/Dispensers to join our friendly team within Holme Pharmacy, Holme on
Spalding Moor. As well as dispensing staff, we employ 2 counter assistants, 2
pharmacists and will soon be hosting a pre-registration pharmacist. We hold a
40 hour license and are open for customers Mon-Fri 08:30-12:30 and 14:00-18:00.
We dispense prescriptions for the Holme-on-Spalding-Moor
locality as well as hosting collection points at Brough & South Cave
surgeries. In addition to prescription services, our pharmacy offers services
such as flu vaccines, consultations, minor ailments and much more.
HOURLY RATE: £11.81 (£23,093 WTE) with annual
increments up to £12.71 (£24,853 WTE)
HOURS: 2 posts
24 hours each (negotiable for the right candidate)
ANNUAL LEAVE: 5 weeks
plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Main duties of the job
The role will include:
Working with colleagues to provide a friendly, supportive
service to patients collecting prescription or with a medication query, referring
to the Pharmacist as appropriate.
Maintaining adequate stock levels of drugs in the dispensary
through effective ordering and stock control.
Processing paper and EPS prescriptions in line with Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring the items are fully labelled and ready to
be checked by the pharmacist.
Processing prescriptions generated through the Golden Tote
scheme.
Supporting the pharmacist with the provision of NHS &
private services.

Job responsibilities
- Open up premises at the start of the day when
first to arrive and make all necessary preparations to receive patients.
- When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure
that the pharmacy is totally secured and internal lights are off.
- Process
paper and EPS prescriptions in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),
ensuring the items are fully labelled and ready to be checked by the
pharmacist.
- Process
prescriptions generated via the Golden Tote scheme.
- Query
prescription issues with the patients GP Practice including advising of
alternatives for out of stock items.
- Hand
out prescriptions to patients checking exemption certificates and following SOPs,
offering medication advice and answering patient queries as necessary and
referring to the pharmacist as appropriate.
- Assist
the pharmacist in carrying out a Controlled Drug stock check as required.
- Process
MDS trays following pharmacy SOPs for those patients in need.
- Give
patients advice on products and services including GSL (general sale list)
medicines and P (Pharmacy) medicines, referring to the pharmacist as
appropriate.
- Put
OTC, retail and prescription sales through the till via cash or card payment.
- Cash
up daily including printing till reports, doing end of day banking on card
machine and rectifying any till discrepancies.
- Advise
the Finance Administrator when further change is required for the till.
- Maintain
adequate stock levels of drugs, retail and OTC items within the pharmacy,
ordering as required (paying attention to costing) and checking all invoices
against stock received. Rotating stock to ensure short-dated lines are used
first.
- Ensure
prescriptions are endorsed correctly, overleaf completed by patient, counted,
recorded and filed ready to be sent to the PPA for reimbursement at the end of
each month.
- Answer
telephone queries, referring to the pharmacist as appropriate.
- Check
PharmOutcomes & NHS Mail emails throughout the day.
- Check
and monitor fridge temperatures daily, reporting any issues to the pharmacist.
- Process
prescriptions for Brough & South Cave collection points in line with the
SOP including separating prescriptions and paperwork, texting patients with
updates, liaising with delivery driver, adding new patients onto the PMR
system.
- Enter
data on Pharmoutcomes for NHS Services including vaccinations, emergency
contraception (EHC), methadone supervised consumption and minor ailments.
- Check
retrievals area every 2 months for uncollected prescriptions.
- Conduct
date checks and remove out of date stock on a monthly basis.
- Dispose
of returned medication in the DOOP bins, ensuring that the labels are placed in
confidential waste and the cardboard in the recycling waste.
- Together
with the pharmacist, destruct Controlled Drugs in accordance with SOPs and
national guidelines.
- Maintain
confidentiality at all times in accordance with General Data Protection
Regulations including information relating to The Ridings Medical Group
patients.
- Collect
and record petty cash in line with pharmacy policy.
- Taking
part in an annual Performance and Development review as required by the
Pharmacy.
- Working
in accordance with the Pharmacy SOPs at all times.

cover for holidays and sickness to ensure continuation of the service.
