Are you an experienced dental nurse who thrives on variety, flexibility, and making a real impact? This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills, supporting our teams to deliver excellent patient care where and when its needed most.

As a Senior Dental Nurse, youll provide clinical and operational support. Youll play a key role in maintaining continuity of care and upholding the highest standards in infection control, safeguarding, compliance, and patient experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

Provide high-quality chairside assistance to dentists during a wide range of dental procedures

Support and mentor junior dental nurses and trainees

Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, HTM 01-05, and cross-infection control standards

Oversee daily clinical operations, ensuring surgeries are prepared and maintained to a high standard

Manage stock control, ordering dental supplies and maintaining equipment

Assist with patient care, ensuring a positive and comfortable experience

Maintain accurate patient records in line with GDPR and practice policies

Support practice management with audits, inspections, and administrative tasks

Lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, and patient care standards

Job Summary

The Senior Dental Nurse plays a key leadership role in supporting the Practice Manager to ensure the efficient and smooth day-to-day running of the practice. They will help embed and monitor change and ensure that the dental nursing and clinical support teams provide consistently high-quality support to clinicians, enabling the delivery of safe and effective patient care. As a professional lead for the dental nursing team, the post holder will develop excellent communication and collaborative working, encouraging a positive culture and high standards of clinical practice. They will help develop the team and ensure the delivery of efficient, patient-centred services. The post holder will have agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned to company objectives, and their performance will be monitored and supported through regular performance reviews and ongoing development.

Key accountabilities:

Leadership and Operational Support Work closely with the Practice Manager to deliver against company objectives and practice-specific KPIs. Deputise for the Practice Manager when required, including attending meetings and presenting reports. Support the day-to-day delivery and performance of the practice team, helping to drive service improvement and efficiency. Contribute to the successful implementation of operational changes and new initiatives. Team Development and Support Act as a role model and clinical lead for the dental nursing team. Support the recruitment and selection of dental nursing and clinical support staff, in line with Smile Together procedures. Support, coach and mentor trainee dental nurses through their training and qualification process. Promote team wellbeing and maximise attendance through proactive support and appropriate escalation of issues. Performance Management Take ownership of agreed individual KPIs and contribute to the achievement of practice-wide performance targets. Participate in regular performance reviews, identifying opportunities for personal development and service enhancement. Clinical Compliance and Governance Monitor and uphold standards of infection prevention and control as the designated lead for the practice. Ensure all policies, protocols, and guidelines are consistently implemented and adhered to across the practice. Maintain robust systems for the servicing, repair and maintenance of dental equipment and stock management. Safeguarding and Patient Safety Act as the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns (children or adults), ensuring appropriate, timely responses in accordance with Smile Together policy.
