An exciting opportunity has arisen at Smile Together Dental CIC, working within our Decontamination team, to support our continuing business growth and development.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to our Support Services Manager, this position will suit someone who has experience in healthcare, an understanding of infection control procedures and enjoys driving.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the decontamination of dental instruments and the collecting and delivering of dental instruments, mail and any other ad-hoc items to locations around Cornwall using our company vehicles.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for the decontamination of dental instruments and the collection and delivery of them to locations around Cornwall using a company vehicle. Responsible for the transportation of mail and other ad hoc goods and equipment between the Smile Together sites according to the timetable and on other occasions as instructed.

Accountabilities:

As an employee you must take personal responsibility for understanding and complying with Smile Togethers standards and any other Standards of Professional Conduct of any government, regulatory organisation, licensing agency, or professional association governing your professional activities.

Employee Handbook:

The expectations of the organisation are outlined in the employee handbook and you are expected to familiarise yourself with those expectations.

Social Enterprise:

All employees are aware of the status of Smile Together Dental CIC as a Social Enterprise and are expected to commit to the values expected of a CIC and actively contribute to innovations in supporting the local community to improve oral health.

Key accountabilities:

Able to recognise and identify all dental equipment

Manage the decontamination of dental instruments and organise effectively for timely clinical use

Use the computer and tracking system when and where appropriate

Assist in the maintaining of stock levels and the ordering of consumables used in the Decontamination Hub

Maintain the Decontamination Hub, keeping it clean and tidy

Adhere to departmental policies, protocols and guidance determined by the company

Ensure that the highest standards of decontamination are in place and in accordance with HTM 01-05

Qualifications

Essential

  • Basic numeracy & literacy.
  • 3 GCSEs (grades A-C) or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel across the county as required.
  • Experience of working as part of a team and able to use initiative.
  • Ability to manage own workload in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Awareness of and ability to keep patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the Data Protection Act/General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and NHS Confidentiality Guidelines (eg. Caldicott) and their implications.
  • General skills and experience -
  • A current, Clean full driving licence.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work within time frames.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and non-verbal).
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and patience, balancing compassion, diplomacy and assertiveness.
