Job summary
Provide compassionate, safe, and efficient patient support during and after Gamma Knife proceduresparticularly covering clinic duties when the Gamma Knife nurse is not available
Main duties of the job
- Ensure efficient, accurate and patient-focused care
- Evaluate the patients condition, drawing on expert knowledge and experience to intervene, where necessary.
- Ensure that Consent for the treatment is obtained prior to frame-fitting.
- Use excellent communication skills to provide and receive highly confidential, sensitive and complicated patient information. The HCA must seek and maintain patients cooperation and trust in order to support them through a seamless pathway
- Use knowledge and experience to converse effectively with patients and families from diverse age, ethnicity, social, and mental health backgrounds
- Develop key-working relationships with all members of the multi-professional team, including radiographer, medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers
- To report to the Lead and Senior Radiographers & Clinical Services Manager

Amethyst UK is the trading name of Medical Equipment Solutions Ltd and its subsidiaries QSRC Ltd and Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre Ltd.
The Queen Square Radiosurgery Centre provides a Gamma Knife radiosurgery service for NHS (National Health Service) and private patients treating brain tumours and other intracranial indications. We are one of two NHS England (NHSE) National Centres of Excellence who provide specialist care and support for patients including those with rare and complex conditions. The Centre enjoys a significant number of strengths from the well established integration with other areas of expertise within the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) and is located at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, the UKs largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital.
The Gamma Knife service is run by QSRC Ltd, a nominated sub-contractor of UCLH. The Gamma Knife department has been awarded the Supra Centre contract for the South via the NHS Tender enabling the centre to treat all diagnoses and paediatric patients in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital. The Gamma Knife department also has an expanding research programme.
