Job summary
The primary responsibility of the post holder is to ensure the provision of a high quality image
acquisition service that meets the expectations of senior researchers from University of Bristol, and
colleagues from Universities across the UK and internationally as research users. To maintain high
professional standards that comply with the Standards of Proficiency for Radiographers as set out
by the Health Professionals Council. Research imaging is to be performed on large animals (pigs and
sheep). The role also occasionally includes clinical scanning of companion animal, and cadaveric
anatomical scanning to support the Universitys wider educational programme.

- Extensive practical experience in MR imaging
- ideally of both animal and human participants
- An organised and methodical approach to work
- Ability to produce high quality MR images for a
- wide range of body areas
- In depth knowledge of MR imaging techniques, quality assurance and MR safety regulations
- Previous training experience or demonstrable ability to train research users in MR skills and assess their competence
- Sound IT skills including image archiving for
- research and clinical purposes
- Able to work effectively in multi-disciplinary
- environment
- Capable of imaging problem analysis and developing a strategy to provide workable solutions
- Previous experience of managing a MR unit
- including writing SOPs and policies

- Experience of advanced MR techniques, e.g.
- spectroscopy, BOLD, fMRI, DTI
