About us

The Bristol Dental School is responsible for research and the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes in Dentistry. Teaching takes place between the University precinct and at the University of Bristol Dental Hospital (UBDH) and School. From 2023 the majority of primary care dental undergraduate placements will take place from a new high-quality clinical facility in the centre of Bristol. This marks a significant departure from the traditional model of Dentistry and has come with unprecedented investment from the University of Bristol. The change to the operating model allows for a strong focus on clinical education at this new site, whilst enabling dental undergraduates to interact with specialist services at UBDH at the appropriate stage in the curriculum. We are maintaining strong links with UBDH and have a shared ambition to develop and expand the postgraduate portfolio. We also intend the new model to facilitate expanded research opportunities in population oral health including primary care, as well as our strengths in microbiology and materials.
