Job summary

As Clinical Research Fellow (Junior Doctor) you will work with Dr Paul Edison and his team to carry out clinical studies in Alzheimer's Disease and other related dementias. We are looking for highly motivated junior doctors who would like to gain experience in research to pursue their career in neurology, psychiatry, and general medicine with a research focus.

Main duties of the job

This appointment is an excellent opportunity for clinicians in any speciality at any stage of their career to gain experience in clinical research in a leading research organisation. We are looking for highly motivated junior doctors who would like to gain experience in research to pursue their career in Neurology, Psychiatry, and General Medicine with a research focus. Candidates who would like to pursue PhD will be encouraged to apply for their own fellowship. The post holder should have demonstrated their technical ability, accuracy, dependability and attention to detail. It is expected that the post holder will be able to work in several different laboratories/environments and will possess excellent communication skills, working closely with a range of different people.

  • To undertake research studies, contributing to on-going studies under the guidance of Dr Edison
  • To plan and write future research proposals for funding and fellowship applications under the direction of Dr Edison
  • Recruitment and clinical and cognitive assessment of patients
  • To coordinate the care of the clinical trial patients
  • Applicants should be medically qualified and have experience of conducting clinical and/or basic scientific research. You should have demonstrated your technical ability, accuracy, dependability and attention to detail. It is expected that you will be able to work in several different laboratories/environments and that you will possess excellent communication skills, working closely with a range of different people.

  • Medical qualification with registration at the General Medical Council
  • Clinical experience in a relevant discipline (e.g. neurology/general medicine)
  • Knowledge of relevant research governance procedures and frameworks (GDPR, HTA, GCP etc.)
  • Able to work well independently and within a team
  • Experience of problem solving in research project(s)
  • Ability to organise and manage research projects, particularly in neurology
  • Good interpersonal skills with patients/volunteers
  • Interest and commitment to dementia research
  • Applicants without medical qualifications (MBBS or equivalent) and GMC registration will not be considered. Further information This is a Full Time and fixed term role for 2 years initially, based at the Hammersmith Campus. Salary upon appointment will also include an additional London Weighting Allowance of £2,162 per annum.
