Research Assistant in Sleep Physiology

Job summary
This 39-month post is funded by the MRC Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme. Purpose of the study To co-produce a smartphone/tablet/web-based app that will deliver a behavioural intervention to improve obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) patient adherence to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy that the group have already developed. Co-production will be done with a patient advisory group, the study team, and professional app designers and app developers.
Main duties of the job
- Conduct the clinical studies, collecting all data apart from qualitative interview data .
- Be the main liaison between the study team and patients; arranging research visits and making travel arrangements for these as necessary.
- Be the main liaison between patients, the patient advisory group, and the study team.
- Contribute technical expertise in relation to CPAP devices and associated equipment and how to use CPAP to the intervention and app.
- Work collaboratively with the other research associate and the other members of the study team, and subcontractors designing and developing the app.
- Assist with the analysis of data.
- Ensure the validity and reliability of data collected at all times.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all findings.
- Making purchases from the lab budget for the project as required.
- Assist with the writing of reports to research sponsors.
- Present findings to colleagues.
- Provide advice to other staff and students.
- Assist with the publication of findings.
- Attend relevant workshops and conferences as necessary.
- Develop contacts within the College and the wider community.
- Promote the reputation of the Group, the Department and the College. Other Duties:
- To undertake any necessary training and/or development.
- To undertake appropriate administration tasks.
- To attend relevant meetings.
