Job summary

This post is for a medically qualified doctor with a GMC license to practice and is funded by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust through Imperial College London to (1) assist in advanced obstetric ultrasound training to sonographers and (2) in the provision of high-quality obstetric ultrasound to NWL maternity ultrasound units.

Main duties of the job

Clinical * Perform obstetric ultrasound screening and diagnostic scans in early gestation to full term including screening for fetal trisomies, fetal anatomy, well-being and Dopplers * Gain experience in fetal anomalies, growth restriction, multiple pregnancies and preterm labour * Train sonographers, doctors and midwives in advanced obstetric ultrasound techniques * Other duties as required requested by Clinical Leads Clinical Governance and Audit * Maintain and execute high standards of clinical record keeping * Contribute towards developing, monitoring and reviewing clinical services including the preparation of reports as required Professional Development and Training * Professional development and necessary training to maintain skills and clinical practice, and to remain informed of new clinical developments in obstetric ultrasound

Job responsibilities

About the role This post is for a medically qualified doctor with a GMC license to practice and is funded by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust through Imperial College London to (1) assist in advanced obstetric ultrasound training to sonographers and (2) in the provision of high-quality obstetric ultrasound to NWL maternity ultrasound units. What you would be doing You must be experienced in routine obstetric ultrasound screening and diagnostic scans, with the ability to train sonographers, doctors and midwives in advanced obstetric ultrasound techniques. You will divide your time between NWL maternity units (3 days/week), CFC (1 day/week) and QCCH U/S department (1 day/week). Alongside these clinical responsibilities will be the opportunity to undertake a research study or audit project related to obstetric ultrasound. It is not expected that the research will lead to a higher degree. What we are looking for

  • Perform obstetric ultrasound screening and diagnostic scans in early gestation to full term including screening for fetal trisomies, fetal anatomy, well-being and Dopplers
  • Gain experience in one or more specialist areas: fetal anomalies, growth restriction or multiple pregnancies
  • Train sonographers, doctors and midwives in advanced obstetric ultrasound techniques
  • Liaise with other departments and clinical staff when necessary between NWL Maternity Units, CFC and QCCH
