About the role Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria have entered into a partnership to form the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM), based at the University of Cumbria at the Carlisle Fusehill Street campus. PCSM's vision is to improve health outcomes for the people of Cumbria. The School is now seeking to appoint a Head of Admissions, Recruitment and Outreach to oversee our recruitment and admissions activities, ensuring that PCSM:

  • Meets its admission targets by attracting and recruiting excellent students in line with the School's vision to create a long-term workforce for the Cumbria region;
  • Focuses on widening participation by reducing barriers to access;
  • Has a fair, transparent and high-quality applicant experience, aligned with our goals, General Medical Council (GMC) and NHS values-based recruitment, and Imperial's admissions policies and processes;
  • Promotes opportunities for aspiring clinicians in the Cumbria area.

What we are looking for
  • Qualifications commensurate with at least one of the following:
  • A Higher Degree (PhD or equivalent) in a medical science discipline
  • A primary medical qualification, with full GMC registration, a licence to practise medicine in the UK and a CCT.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the capability to rigorously design, develop, communicate and oversee processes in line with guidance and best practice
  • Evidence of outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to act as an ambassador for the School to prospective students, schools and others
  • A solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to think creatively and innovatively in order to solve problems
