Job summary
Under the Executive Chairmanship of Professor, the Lord Darzi of Denham, and the inaugural Directorship of Professor Alison Holmes, the Initiative aims to combine research, behaviour change, public engagement, and policy to provide real-world solutions that work to protect the health security of local populations around the world.
Main duties of the job
Design, plan and lead high quality original research, project managing the research activity, ensuring deliverables are achieved, and where applicable, supervising and taking responsibility for research team colleagues Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals Attend and present work at national and international conferences Obtain research grants from national and international funding bodies; obtain funding from industry where appropriate Supervise postdoctoral researchers, postgraduate students and undergraduate research projects Making a significant contribution to building and establishing links between the founding partners, and appropriate departments, faculties, wider university and other bodies Teach courses to all levels: undergraduate, master's and higher research degrees, through lectures, seminars, course work, tutorials and personal supervision, within the regulations of the awarding body of the funder The appointee will participate in and contribute to the proper functioning and efficient running of the Medicine/Infection directorate and participate in medical audit. It is expected that the appointee will show a commitment to continuing medical education (CME) and be expected to participate in CPD and in relevant quality assurance schemes. The Trust encourages all consultants to participate in these activities by providing dedicated study leave and an annual allowance.
