Job summary

Imperial College School of Medicine (ICSM) is seeking applications for the role of Clinical Education Fellow. You will support these exciting educational initiatives and deliver teaching across a wide range of clinical areas in the programme. You will be based in the Faculty Education Office (Medicine), working closely with academics to develop and deliver curriculum, teaching and assessment of medical students throughout the six years of the MBBS programme.

Main duties of the job

* Curriculum and Assessment Development and Delivery * To contribute to the planning, design and development of the curriculum and its associated assessments across six years of the MBBS programme * To identify curriculum or assessment areas where improvements could be made, undertaking evaluation and research, and suggesting ways of improving provision * To review and discuss changes in the curriculum development and delivery with all stakeholders including Directors of Phases and Director of Assessment * To ensure exam questions in the assessment management system are of high quality, mapped to the curriculum and to the GMC's Outcomes for Graduates * To contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the administration of the curriculum map and the assessment management system * To train others in the use of the curriculum map and assessment management system, including question writing to a national standard * To contribute to the organisation and delivery of formative and summative assessments, including digital formats * To assess using appropriate criteria and provide constructive feedback to students, where appropriate * To mark examinations, course work and process marks * To undertake duties related to course and assessment administration, including organisation of teaching and examinations, production of materials, attendance records, Health & Safety matters relating to practical sessions etc

The medical school curriculum has been fully mapped using a bespoke software, Sofia. Assessments are regularly reviewed to ensure they align with the curriculum. The School's question bank has also recently been improved and upgraded. Furthermore, we are committed to innovative teaching methods and the use of mobile learning; all our students are equipped with iPads What you would be doing You will support these exciting educational initiatives and deliver teaching across a wide range of clinical areas in the programme. There will also be opportunities to get involved with evaluation and medical education research, as these roles dedicate significant time to these areas What we are looking for

  • Registered with the GMC
  • Evidence of the successful delivery of teaching
  • Demonstrable evidence of an interest in and knowledge of medical educational theory
  • An ability to plan and organise own work to deadlines with minimal supervision
  • An ability to use information technology effectively (in particular the range of Microsoft Office programs) and to manage data intelligently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; an ability to negotiate with staff at all levels
  • Collaborative working is a must, we are looking for team players
