Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow, who will be involved in a major
research project in the surgical gut microbiome directed by Mr James Kinross. The
research project will entail project design, experimental work in addition to data
analysis and reporting the results in peer-reviewed journals.
Main duties of the job
Provide a commitment to Imperial College London over a period to perform research leading to a higher research degree (MD(Res), PhD
Ensure ALS, ATLS and PALS (where appropriate) qualifications are up to date
Provide regular resident medical officer support to Charing Cross Hospital on a rota (without cover)
Provide urgent and immediate clinical support for patients in response to verbal or written requests by admitting Consultants and or Registered nursing staff
Ensure timekeeping, high clinical standards and six weeks notification of upcoming study/annual leave (maximum six weeks per year)

The successful candidate will work across our research themes with leaders in cancer research, the microbiome and translational sciences. You will have an opportunity to work with international collaborators and to develop skills in computational biology and clinical trials. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with an interest in research and they would be expected to register for a higher degree. You must be able to demonstrate some previous experience in research and must show evidence of ability to develop personal research projects. The post holders will also be required to fulfil clinical commitments within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, among others, to contribute to their on-call rotas.
