Job summary
The Clinical Skills and Professional Practice (CSPP) modules span all four years of the programme and includes situational learning on clinical placements. As PCSM Lead for CSPP Year 1 and 2, you will be part of the academic leadership team and provide strategic management of the content, delivery and assessment of these modules.
Main duties of the job
This is a senior academic role within the school with influence and responsibility for shaping the curriculum and our approach to teaching and learning. You will:
Manage and lead the development and delivery of the CSPP curriculum, learning and assessment materials for years 1 and 2.
Liaise with Clinical Placement providers and the wider CSM team to support the development, provision and quality assurance of placements.
Work closely with academic colleagues across the programme to develop an integrated curriculum, with a focus on the student journey through years 1 and 2
Lead CSPP-1 module delivery when the school opens in August 2025, ensuring effective collaboration to plan and deliver teaching and assessment materials.
Oversee students' preparation for early clinical placements and support the management of conduct and professional issues that might arise in collaboration with the wider PCSM team.
Review and address student feedback of placements and teaching.

The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) is an entirely new venture between Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria with the specific purpose of helping to address health inequality in the UK. The school will be based at the Carlisle campus and is expected to open in 2025. Our vision is to be collaborative and inclusive, innovative and research-informed. This is a part time (14h/w) and a fixed term role, 24-month post based in Carlisle, with some travel within London expected.
Salary information:
If a successful candidate is based in London, they will be paid according to Imperial College London pay scale.If they are on Imperial College contract and based in Cumbria, they will be paid according to Imperial College Outside London pay scales (Salaries | Administration and support services | Imperial College London).If they are on University of Cumbria contract and seconded to Imperial College, they will be paid according to Imperial College Outside London pay scale.
This position is available on a secondment basis, to applicants from Imperial College and University of Cumbria.
Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
