Job summary
It is a very exciting time for severe asthma research with recent breakthroughs in biological drug development and licensing. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Research Nurse who will support specialist research and clinical care for asthma participants to continue this exciting phase of research within our clinical partner organisation, the Royal Brompton Hospital, Guys & St Thomas' Trust.
Main duties of the job
You will work with team members to recruit participants and collect meaningful scientific data for studies. Key duties will include obtaining and documenting informed consent, reviewing medical notes and collect auditable research data in an accurate and timely manner. During patient visits you will be required to perform clinical assessments such as collecting and processing blood or other samples from participants, amongst other duties.
Good patient communication is key to this role; providing information and support to relatives/carers whilst demonstrating politeness, courtesy and sensitivity is essential. Communicating with colleagues is also an important aspect to the role and you will be confident in maintaining good relations with Sponsors, clients, visitors, relatives and colleagues.

The Respiratory Clinical Research Facility (CRF) provides a high-quality clinical environment, in which patients (adults and children) and healthy volunteers can undergo research programmes safely and effectively according to robust, ethically approved protocols. You will assist the team on global, multicentre observational studies being led by Prof Fan Chung and Dr Pankaj Bhavsar and colleagues.
