Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior CT
/interventional radiographer with an interest in Cardiac imaging to work within
our research/clinical facility, the Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging and
Interventional Centre (AMIIC). The internationally unique centre will include a
hybrid unit combining a state of the art ultra-high resolution computed
tomography (CT) scanner integrated with a cardiac catheterisation lab /
interventional lab. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work
on exciting prototype technologies (hardware and software), and contribute to
cutting-edge scientific projects of the University of Oxford. The radiographer,
whilst being an employee of the University of Oxford, will also be involved in the
provision of a highly patient orientated, clinical service for the Oxford
University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We require someone who will enjoy
working in a friendly, cutting edge environment performing advanced procedures
(using clinical and research techniques) as part of a multi-disciplinary team
of clinicians, radiographers, nurses and physiologists spanning 'both'
University of Oxford and NHS Departments. Due to the expansion of both the
clinical and research service, a flexible approach to weekend and evening work
will be required. The post holder will ideally be expected to rotate between
both the CT and Interventional services allowing for a flexible working team.
Main duties of the job
Undertake without immediate supervision, a full range of CT scan
procedures and a wide range of diagnostic interventional and cardiac
procedures.
To achieve high quality diagnostic images within the department
using the established protocols and procedures.
implement effective safe working procedures that are reviewed on a
periodic basis and to contribute to the development, evaluation and audit of
specialist protocols and guidelines in accordance with AMIIC and OUH policies.
Effectively communicate changes in procedure, safety policy and
procedure to operators and service users.
To be responsible and accountable for assessing, planning,
implementing and evaluating care for patients and their relatives without
direct supervision and to promote a patient centred service.
To demonstrate use of effective and compassionate communication
skills when dealing with patients and their families and to promote effective
collaboration within the multidisciplinary team.
To undertake the training of qualified radiographers, maintain
training records of scanner operators, staff radiation personal monitoring, and
to lead by example.
To perform intravenous injections when required, subject to
satisfactory completion of a recognised course of training.
To administer medicines including cardiac CT drugs in accordance
with AMIIC and OUH PGDs.

The AMIIC team consists of a
multidisciplinary team of clinicians, post-doc scientists, DPhil students,
technicians, radiographers, nurses and physiologists, all critically important
for the functionality of the team, due to their complementary skills. The team is led by Professor Charalambos
Antoniades, and
it is supported by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) through the
Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), the British Heart Foundation and other
funding bodies.

University of Oxford. The radiographer, whilst being an employee of the
University of Oxford, will also be involved in the provision of a highly

We require someone
who will enjoy working in a friendly, cutting edge environment, performing
advanced procedures (using clinical and research techniques) as part of a
multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, radiographers, nurses, physiologists and
researchers spanning 'both' University of Oxford and NHS Departments. Due to the expansion of both the clinical and research
service, a flexible approach to weekend and evening work will be required.
The post holder will ideally be expected to rotate between both the CT and
Interventional services allowing for a flexible working team.
You will hold
a BSc degree or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography with substantial
experience in both a range of Computed Tomography (CT) procedures including
cardiac work and with experience in a range of diagnostic interventional
procedures. You will be a registered practitioner with HCPC. It is desirable
for the post holder to have experience in Cardiac Catheterisation Lab work and to
have a Society of Radiographers Certificate of IV Administration.
This post is full
time (part time will be considered minimum 18.75 hours) and permanent. This is a Grade 8 (£48,235 - £57,255 per annum)
post, but may be offered at a Grade 7 (£38,674 - £46,913 per annum) according
to candidate experience, skill and level of responsibility, with training and
support provided to enable progression to the Grade 8 position.
