Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Nurse to participate in clinical and research activities within the Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging and Interventional Centre (AMIIC) based within the John Radcliffe hospital. The internationally unique centre includes a hybrid unit combining a state-of-the-art worlds first clinical photon-counting Siemens computed tomography (CT) scanner integrated with a Siemens ARTIS Icono Biplane interventional suite.
The successful candidate will join our nursing team in AMIIC and work closely with other members of the unit including, radiographers, physiologists, HCAs, ODAs, clinicians and researchers.
Main duties of the job
The role requires the nurse to work in the interventional suite and recovery area for our interventional lists which include cardiology, neuroradiology, radiology and neurosurgical cases, as well as providing nursing support to any CT lists. As well as the clinical activity there will be the opportunity to take part in a growing number of research projects that use the AMIIC facilities.
The successful candidate, whilst being an employee of the University of Oxford, will also be involved in the provision of a highly patient orientated, clinical service for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We require someone who will enjoy working in a friendly, cutting edge environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, radiographers, nurses and physiologists spanning 'both' University of Oxford and NHS departments. A flexible approach to weekend and evening work will be required.
About us
The Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging and Interventional Centre (AMIIC) is an internationally unique research centre for clinical cardiac and brain research in the emergency setting. The Centre opened formally in 2011. AMIIC comprises a state-of-the-art photon-counting CT scanner conjoined to an invasive angiography laboratory/theatre and accommodates the work of an interactive consortium of clinical investigators from University Departments and the NHS in both heart and brain specialties. AMIIC focuses primarily on clinical research studies in patients with acute vascular syndromes, and also develops and implements advanced imaging methods, especially CT. The Radcliffe Department of Medicine takes lead responsibility for the Centre, including its administration, with close links to the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. AMIIC is a dedicated clinical research centre.
