Applications are now invited for a permanent position as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (dependent upon experience) to join the Physician Associate team responsible for the delivery of an MSc in Physicians Associate Studies.

The post will be based at the Medway Campus of the University and you will work with staff from the Institute of Medical Sciences.

Job responsibilities

Main Purpose of the Role The post holder will be a key member of the PA teaching team who will play a significant role in the delivery of the PA course and contribute to the recruitment, selection, teaching and assessment of students.

Main Duties

1. Perform the role of University Lecturer/Senior Lecturer and Personal Academic Tutor involved in the development and delivery of the teaching/taught, practical elements of the course, theory and practice assessment of students.

2. Visit students in clinical placements across Kent and Medway.

3. Work with the Course Director to maintain relationships with NHS partners and placement partners.

4. Proactive involvement in operational/day to day management of the course.

5. Continued scholarship to promote personal and professional development. Knowledge transfer and research activity will develop and progress to the level of the appointment.

6. Contribute to the recruitment, interviewing and selection of students.

Planning and Organising Resources

1. Effectively communicate changes in venue/timetables to students.

2. Employ University mechanisms for recording and acting on student absence.

3. Review student data relating to retention, academic achievement and other issues (appeals, interruptions etc) relating to academic progression and equality and diversity.

4. Oversee the availability of staff, teaching accommodation and relevant resources required for the day to day delivery of the course.

5. Assist in the recruitment and selection of students.

6. Advise on resource requirements as appropriate.

7. Contribute to strategic developments in the delivery of the course.

Analysis and research

1. Meet regularly with the course team members to review how relevant subject knowledge/research can be incorporated into modules.

2. Contribute effectively to research activity: literature reviews and sampling.

3. Ensure consideration and required action in relation to ethical governance procedures.

4. Think critically about the development of own research and learning skills.

5. Analyse and interpret data and draw appropriate conclusions.

6. Engage in scholarly activity to ensure subject knowledge is kept up to date, translate knowledge of advances in the subject area of research activity.

7. Maintain accurate records of data, notes and research findings.

8. Engage in subject, professional research where appropriate to support teaching activities.

9. Conduct individual or collaborative research projects.

10. Explore sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds for own research / scholarly activities.

11. Extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from research / scholarship to appropriate external activities.

12. Develop and produce materials and disseminate the results of research activity
