Sheffield Hallam University is seeking experienced and passionate Cardiac Physiologists and Respiratory & Sleep Physiologists to join our dynamic team of Clinical Educators as flexible part time hours Associate Lecturers.

Main duties of the job

In these flexible, part-time roles, you will support students and apprentices on nationally recognised healthcare science programmes, including the Higher Degree Apprenticeship and Graduate Diploma. Working closely with learners and NHS Trusts across England, you'll guide clinical development through online support, tripartite reviews, university-based teaching, and assessment of e-portfolios.

Role purpose

To be responsible for the teaching delivery of specifically identified subjects and topics relating to a defined area of work and associated assessment and administration. To contribute positively to the student experience.

Academic Lecturer generic responsibilities Grade 7

Teaching and Learning

Design and deliver, high quality and challenging learning experiences that equip students with the skills and knowledge required by employers.

Teach specifically identified subjects and topics related to a defined area of work.

Provide effective and efficient teaching to approved courses through lecture, seminar or tutorial modes of delivery.

Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students by setting and marking coursework, assignments and examinations.

Contribute to the development of resource material.

Ensure that appropriate learning materials are prepared in advance of delivery and assignments are undertaken by students in a timely manner

Keep up-to-date with knowledge of your subject area.

Student Support

Develop a sense of purpose and harmonious working within assigned student groups.

Provide appropriate academic, technical and pastoral care by supporting the work of individual students and referring them where appropriate, to relevant support staff.

Act, when required, as tutor to a group of students, providing effective academic, technical and pastoral care.

Team Work and Communication

Work with colleagues in developing the provision within the faculty.

Work within a team to promote the development of curriculum practices of benefit to students and the University

Participate in appropriate quality assurance procedures of the faculty.

Make a positive contribution to the overall development of the department and faculty

Ensure the implementation of all University policies including those relevant to teaching, health and safety and quality assurance.

Essential

  • Well developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical issues relevant;
  • current Respiratory and/or sleep clinical physiologist/ Cardiac Physiologist /current Healthcare science Practitioner/Clinical Scientist or have recognised clinical experience in one of these areas.
  • Well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of respiratory physiology and sleep services including current sleep diagnostics and airways support therapies & treatments
  • Or
  • Well developed and current knowledge and understanding of non invasive and invasive cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including cardiac catheterisation and echocardiography
  • Ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of stakeholders e.g. students and external clients from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Ability to design and deliver transformative and innovative learning experiences
  • Excellent numerical and quantitative skills
