Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Research Fellow to drive the development and design of a healthy behaviours programme for children and young people (C&YP) who have completed cancer treatment. Our focus is on the supportive role of physical activity, dietary and healthy behaviours to enhance C&YPs wellbeing. This project has been funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Could you harness your co-design skills, innovative thinking and collaborative approach to help the team at the Advanced Wellbeing Centre(AWRC) create a pioneering programme? This is an exciting opportunity to shape future service provision in an emerging area of health research, supported by a passionate team of clinicians, academics, and community stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
In the first six months, you will be engaged in leading the team in the process of evidence scoping and reviewing, you will be co-ordinating a team of co-design and communication professionals to plan inspiring activities for C&YP and carers so they can express their lived experiences, preferences for multi-modal support and co-create a programme to meet their needs.
You will be engaging with healthcare professionals and community-based stakeholders to hear a range of perspectives on how best to support C&YP. You will be continually drawing on your research experience and skills to lead the team and ensure the project activities are planned and executed to robust academic standards.

Senior Research Fellow generic responsibilities Grade 8
Research, Knowledge Transfer and Consultancy
Responsible for regularly leading research and knowledge transfer projects and working with colleagues as part of a team on projects, including:
o Defining research objectives, designing research methodologies and producing bids.
o Planning projects and managing and motivating staff, data collection and analysis, monitoring and writing regular reports/presenting findings for clients / funders.
o Taking decisions on projects or bids when leading e.g. signing off small bids, who to involve in project teams, how to approach research.
o Writing final reports and papers / articles for publication.
Budget setting and monitoring resources, ensuring successful completion of project.
Publishes project reports, research papers and journal articles and present research outcomes to conferences / seminars.
May be required to act as project leader on large projects.

Responsible for leading the operational delivery of the project. As such, will direct the activities of the projects Research Fellow and Administrative Officer to ensure the project is delivered to robust academic standards and the project objectives are delivered in a timely manner.
Lead role in liaising with and reporting to respective project partners including Universities, NHS Trusts, community-based organisations, sub-contractors and the project funder; Yorkshire Cancer Research, to ensure smooth operational delivery of the project.
Co-ordinates recruitment of project participants, liaising with clinicians and external partners across multiple sites.
Responsible for critically appraising the evidence base and identifying the complex challenges of delivering place-based, age-appropriate, health behaviour change support to C&YP in an NHS framed setting.
