Sheffield Hallam University are excited to be recruiting for 5 nation-wide (home based),Physical Activity Clinical Champions to work within the national Physical Activity Clinical Champions Programme (PACC), where you will play a key role in helping develop and evaluate this highly valued training programme. The roles are for a maximum of 12 hours per month.
Main duties of the job
The role of the national Physical Activity Clinical Champion is to organise and deliver clinician to clinician training on physical activity in clinical care to other NHS health care professionals, which will support to improve patient care and outcomes.
The job role will be to strengthen national capacity and leadership for physical activity and contribute towards reducing health inequalities by working across the healthcare sector to improve awareness of physical activity in the prevention and treatment of long-term conditions.
The role is supported by a national team and infrastructure based at the AWRC at Sheffield Hallam University, this is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a Sport England project implementing and evaluating a new national delivery model.
As part of a larger network of over 30 national, place-based and Specialist Registrar PACCs you will work closely with the central PACC team and national PACCs, to deliver the peer-to-peer training online across the country and locally through both online and face to face sessions. Therefore, you will be based from home.

The Physical Activity Clinical Champions programme is funded by Sport England and this role therefore is subject to the availability of that funding.

To deliver Physical Activity Clinical Champion (PACC) educational training and
resources for community and patient facing healthcare professionals across the
country.
To strengthen national capacity and leadership for physical activity by supporting
the development of PACC training materials and other capacity building
resources.
To contribute towards reducing health inequalities by working across the
healthcare sector to improve awareness of physical activity in the prevention and
treatment of long-term conditions. Recognising the complexity of enabling people
to get physically active and that wider determinants of health affect people
differently.
Responsibilities
Deliver the peer-to-peer training online across the country and locally through
online and face to face sessions.
To build relationships and engage with local networks, including healthcare and
community providers, Active Partnerships and Public Health teams to explore
opportunities for collaboration, promote the role of physical activity and promote
training for relevant workforces.
To promote local physical activity signposting through referrals into national
and local physical activity pathways and capture insight and learning to shape
delivery of the pathway. Support the national online PACC Forum community of practice to encourage
sharing of ideas, learning and knowledge using Moving Medicine community of
practice infrastructure.
To encourage healthcare professionals in the PACC Forum and your locality to
continue to develop their knowledge and skills and, where appropriate,
encourage others to deliver education using PACC and other MHPP resources.
As a clinical champion a National PACC will:
Link with training leads in NHS trusts to identify training opportunities with
their respective health professional cohorts and deliver a standard training
package (which you will be trained to deliver) to groups of NHS HCPs in
hospitals or in the community / primary care setting.
Engage with and promote collaborative partnerships and projects designed to
support implementation of evidenced based interventions to reduce inactivity
and promote physical activity across the life course at national, regional, and
local levels.
Strengthen national capacity and leadership for physical activity by supporting
the development of PACC training materials and other capacity building
resources such podcasts and e-learning modules across the health system.
Engage with PACC infrastructure (governance groups, stakeholder
engagement, academic partnerships, networks, strategy, planning and
guidance) and use this insight to enable clinicians and clinical networks to
deliver coherent evidence-based information relating to physical activity to
patients, and practical interventions in their everyday practice.
Help to develop and support the PACC programme national marketing
strategy and relevant collateral. Where applicable advocating at local and
national events as required and able.
Support the evaluation of the programme by collecting data and ensuring
timely completion of forms for each training session.
