We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer Practitioner with the vision, commitment, academic ambition, and capacity to contribute to the delivery of Physician Associate education. In addition, as a clinician from an appropriate discipline (Physician Associate, Nursing and Midwifery, Allied Health or a doctor) you would have opportunities to develop and teach healthcare students across the medical school and wider university.

Main duties of the job

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for educational scholarship to develop their educational skills. As such, a range of continuing professional development opportunities are available to support those transitioning into a career in academia, as well as those who have already developed an academic identity. This includes support to gain a recognised teaching qualification, as well as Fellowship of Advance HE.

The post is full time but may also be negotiated on a part time/ job share or secondment basis where appropriate, to facilitate clinical duties, which will be discussed with the successful candidate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Responsible for the design and delivery of teaching material across a range of modules, contributing to curriculum development across two years of the MSc PA Course.

2. Deliver theoretical teaching, practical sessions and related activities drawing on your clinical area of expertise. You will have specific MSc PA module teaching responsibilities and with experience take on module leadership.

3. Facilitate the recruitment and support of clinical placements including the relevant documentation alongside the Placement Lead.

4. Contribute to the development of activities relating to professional practice, including but not limited to clinical skills, simulation including GP consultations, and application of theory.

5. To act as a Personal Academic Tutor for PA students and undertake tutorial responsibilities, including maintaining records, for a group and / or individual students.

6. To contribute to the assessment process for all students including the setting, marking and moderation of work, individually or collectively as part of a team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.

7. To supervise dissertation work as appropriate.

8. To carry out academic administrative work and participate in relevant committees within the School and University.

9. To participate in annual staff development and review processes.

10. To participate fully in the life of the School, College and University, by engaging in representational and ambassadorial activities in support of the School's activities and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of School.

11. Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.

12. Take steps to ensure and enhance personal health, safety, and well-being and that of other staff and students.
