We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching) to join our Paramedic Science team. The successful applicant will form part of an enthusiastic and motivated team delivering the BSc Paramedic Science Programme at the University of Worcester and partnered site. We aim to ensure that our Paramedic Science students are offered an outstanding student experience, and the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to contribute to this aspiration in a very practical and positive way.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be confident and competent in teaching across a range of topics and levels within Paramedic Science, as well as providing supportive personal academic tutoring and dissertation supervision to students. We are particularly interested in candidates who are interested or experienced in teaching both theory and skills modules. Successful applicants for the lecturer role will also demonstrate a clear engagement or wish to become involved in research activity and practices. Your teaching approach will be flexible, student-centred and research or practice-inspired. You will join an established team with a strong sense of purpose and a firm commitment to making a difference. The role will also require you to develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders across the university and wider community, you will need a high level of interpersonal skills.

The school comprises three departments, whereby Paramedic Science sits within the department of Community, Social Justice and Health. Job description

Job responsibilities

1. To undertake the full range of teaching duties, module leadership and other administrative duties commensurate with the post and grade and across all modules, including theoretical and skills modules and CPD modules, on the Paramedic Science course and other undergraduate and postgraduate courses as required.

2. To contribute to the assessment process for students including the setting, supervision, marking and moderation of student work, individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.

3. To participate in curriculum development work including planning, development and evaluation of courses

4. To design and develop innovative and inspiring learning materials and assessments individually or collectively with the Paramedic Team in accordance with the quality assurance procedures.

5. To fulfil a highly effective Personal Academic Tutor role, actively contributing to the process of monitoring and supporting students across the department.

6. To support the placement team with facilitating placements and responding to student / placement enquiries. Ensuring that all placement opportunities meet the requirements of the Universitys work-based learning policy and provide a positive learning experience.

7. To participate in student recruitment and marketing of courses within the department, by engaging in shortlisting, interviews, open events, taster sessions and outreach work.

8. To act as Course Leader within the Paramedic Science team as opportunities arise.

9. To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Subject Lead, Head of Department, Deputy Head of School or Head of School.

10. Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.

11. Take steps to ensure and enhance personal health, safety, and well-being and that of other staff and students. 12. Carry out these duties in a manner that promotes equality of opportunity and supports diversity and inclusion and takes into account the University's commitment to environmentally sustainable ways of working.

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area, and registration with a professional body (HCPC, NMC, GPHC).

Knowledge and Skills
