The University of Worcester seeks to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated UK HCPC-registered Dietitian to join our exciting new BSc course in Dietetics. The successful candidate will be joining the Department of Allied Health in the School of Health and Wellbeing. You will join a friendly and supportive team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, radiographers and dieticians, who play key roles in the delivery and on-going development of the courses in the Department.

Main duties of the job

You should also expect to be actively involved in curriculum development and design, creatively considering teaching and learning within a dynamic team. Responsibilities for the post will include leading modules and teaching on our new BSc Dietetics course. We expect and encourage all staff to participate in a variety of modules in dietetics, and other disciplines, at foundation, under-graduate and post-graduate level where relevant.

All our staff work as an inter-professional team, teaching collaboratively across shared and profession specific modules at all academic levels and you will be expected to share this philosophy. As a student-centred inclusive university, your role will include being a Personal and Academic Tutor, to support and encourage students to achieve their potential. You will also supervise students with their dissertation and participate in admissions and recruitment events where we work collaboratively with our colleagues in IMPACT, the university service-user group, who support teaching, recruitment, and curriculum development.

About us

In addition, the post holder will be expected to play an active role within the School, which may include involvement in the delivery of CPD activity across a range of programmes. All staff are expected to engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance their own professional and academic development. Candidates are expected to highlight their areas of expertise in practice and how they intend to further this through scholarship and research.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. To contribute to the teaching of academic and clinical skills, ensuring the seamless integration of theoretical knowledge into clinical practice within the Nutrition and Dietetics courses.

2. To design and develop innovative and inspiring learning materials and assessments, including e-learning, to fully integrate a blended learning approach.

3. To take an active role in cross-School activities, including teaching, contributing to the inter-professional philosophy of the School.

4. To advise and contribute to development of academic content of modules and the Nutrition and Dietetics courses.

5. To carry out academic administrative work and participate in relevant committees within the School, College and University.

6. To develop and deliver high quality learning and teaching for dietetics and other allied health students at all levels, including face-to-face, online and practical teaching and assessment as required.

7. To contribute to the effective and appropriate assessment processes for students including the setting, marking and moderation of student work (theoretical and practical), individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.

8. To carry out innovative and inspiring learning modules including, enhanced online learning approaches.

9. To support and contribute to practice education as requested by the Practice Education Lead / Team and / or nominee.

10. To engage in research and scholarly activity that underpins practice, and which contributes to the University and School objectives ensuring up-to-date, leading-edge teaching.

11. To support dietetic students academic progression as a Personal Academic Tutor, module leader including maintaining records, for a group and / or individual students as required in order to support students.

  • Up-to-date knowledge, experience and expertise in dietetics education.
