This is an exciting time to join the University, as the MSc Physician Associate Programme which has been successfully running for a number of years at the University, has recently moved Schools to join the new Three Counties Medical School, aligning the courses requiring GMC regulation.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer (Teaching) and Clinical Placement Lead with the vision, commitment and academic ambition and capacity to contribute to the development of clinical placements and the delivery of Physician Associate education.
Main duties of the job
You should be a clinician, and this can be from any appropriate discipline (Physician Associate, Nursing, Allied Health or a doctor). You need to be clinically knowledgeable having at least two years post qualification experience, and be registered with the appropriate regulatory body. It is expected that you enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team and have a passion for developing and teaching healthcare students. You will be required to support Physician Associate students academically and in practice, this will include practice visits to ensure the achievement of the Physician Associate standards and to support the placement educators. You will be part of an innovative and supportive team that focuses on the educational needs of its students utilising innovative teaching methodologies. In addition, you will provide academic support at programme level and, co-ordinate, develop and supervise a range of activities effectively as module lead.

This is a full time permanent Senior Lecturer post on the Physician Associate Programme, with a role allocation as Clinical Placement Lead, which is for an initial fixed term of 3 years.

Main Duties
1. To contribute to teaching and related activities for the Physician Associate programme and other programmes within the School, drawing on own area of specialism to design teaching sessions which maximise the integration of theory to clinical practice.
2. Lead and support placement activity across the programme.
3. To lead the relevant practice module as agreed with Head of Department.
4. To design and develop innovative and inspiring learning materials and assessments.
5. To participate fully in curriculum development work including planning, development and evaluation of teaching and learning.
6. To act as a Personal Academic Tutor to postgraduate students.
7. To act as a dissertation supervisor and assess dissertations as requested.
8. To carry out academic administrative work and participate in relevant committees within the School and University.
9. To participate in annual staff development and review processes.
10. To contribute to the assessment process for students including the setting, marking and moderation of work, individually or collectively as part of a team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
11. To undertake tutorial responsibilities, including maintaining records, for a group and/or individual students.
12. To participate fully in the life of the School, College and University, by engaging in representational and ambassadorial activities in support of the School's activities and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Department or School.
