Job summary

The successful candidate should demonstrate a practical awareness of current developments in adult social care nursing and nursing home practice as well as being able to successfully support the implementation and delivery of an innovative and sector specific, Health Education England funded programme of study.

Main duties of the job

The key duties of the post holder will be to contribute to the delivery and teaching of the Higher Education Level 6 Advanced Professional Diploma (CPD) in Adult Social Care Nursing programme and provide additional support to the programme lead.

Having a first degree is a pre-requisite and in addition Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) registration will be essential. We are particularly interested in candidates with contemporary experience in nursing home practice, dementia care and both clinical and educational practice within the nursing home environment.

Essential

  • First Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • Relevant professional registration i.e. NMC registration

Desirable

  • A relevant teaching qualification and fellowship/Associate Fellowship status of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), OR a willingness to obtain
  • fellowship membership of the HEA within a specified time frame.
  • NMC Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of operating successfully within a team environment embedded within adult social care nursing environment such as a nursing home for older adults.
  • Experience of supervising/supporting students as appropriate to the role
  • Experience of teaching and/or student support within Higher Education in the UK
  • Professional experience of working within the nursing home environment and leading teams of healthcare practitioners.
  • Competent in the application of Information and Immersive Technology.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven ability and commitment to undertake appropriate subject specific research and/or enterprise activity and ensure it informs teaching
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences
  • Able to support students through effective personal tutoring

  • Able to write, prepare and develop hand-outs and other learning support materials using appropriate media.
  • Credible teaching and assessment skills and confidence to develop these with support.

  • Skilled at determining priorities and managing deadlines.
