Job summary

The School of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences has a strong reputation and expertise in the North-West. We are currently seeking to recruit an additional Biomedical Science Lecturer, with experience of working in the NHS (or equivalent) as a biomedical scientist to join our growing team. The key duties will be to contribute to the teaching and delivery of the Biomedical Science and Medical Biology undergraduate programmes, and to support across the wider School as needed.

Main duties of the job

A Masters degree or equivalent, and preferably a teaching qualification, are requirements for the role. You will also need to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a professional biomedical scientist. We are absolutely committed to teaching excellence, and will therefore provide comprehensive support to help you make the transition from your current position to academia, if required. We will work with you to agree a personal development plan (including a formal teaching qualification) to enable your success.

Essential

  • Honours degree in relevant subject area
  • A relevant teaching qualification and/or fellowship
  • status of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), or a
  • willingness to obtain fellowship membership of the HEA
  • within a specified time frame
  • PhD/Professional Doctorate or within final year of
  • submission, or equivalent level qualification or
  • exceptional achievements in the professional field

Desirable

  • A postgraduate Masters qualification in relevant subject area
  • Registration with a relevant regulatory body e.g. NMC, HCPC

Experience

Essential

  • Teaching, research and programme delivery experience
  • Experience in using and developing new technologies and professional practice initiatives relevant to the subject area
  • Experience in developing and delivering successful
  • learning and teaching improvement

Desirable

  • Experience of contributing to and implementing quality assurance procedures
  • Experience of preparing proposals/applications to external bodies to secure funding and developing successful partnership arrangements with
