Job summary

The successful individual will join an existing Training Hub team and support the development of the Primary Care workforce through the promotion and continuing support for the NHS England Workforce Training and Education (NHSE WT&E) primary care department agenda. Underpinning these activities will be the ongoing need to support and deliver educational quality governance.

You will be a representative of the Primary Care Department and will be expected to be a positive advocate for NHSE WT&E at all times. You will promote leadership that inspires, motivates, and empowers all staff, whilst demonstrating the values of the NHS.

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with other multi-professional education and workforce leads embedded within an Integrated Care System for the Kent and Medway Training Hub. The role will work across the spectrum of health and where relevant, social care, to support changing service models. The ultimate aim being enabling the delivery of an integrated workforce strategy comprising individuals from a number of professional backgrounds.

Whilst working within NHSE WT&E, they will have a role in supporting workforce strategies in Primary Care Networks (PCN) and the forming health and care partnerships across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Main duties of the job

Alongside existing Training Hub colleagues lead on the promotion of the primary care workforce transformation agenda from certification to retirement that focuses on high quality patient care and service delivery.

Support the professional development, appraisal and revalidation of GPs for the benefit of patient care by locating, co-ordinating and signposting educational resources within the local area to underpin and encourage the development of patient services.

Enable retention strategies for the GP and primary care workforce at every stage of career, lead educational initiatives to develop the primary care workforce such that they can deliver patient care as described in the new models of care and those that emerge through NHS Service redesign. Signpost GPs to other resources such as mentoring and careers advice where appropriate.

You should be a self-motivated individual, able to respond quickly to changing priorities and workloads. Strong leadership skills are essential. You should have good knowledge of the GP curriculum and associated mandatory requirements and be able to positively influence GP specialty trainees to achieve these.

Candidates should be experienced in healthcare education management - which may be achieved through a formal university course or equivalent experience.
