Post-Registration Pharmacist Training Programme Director

The closing date is 29 October 2025

Job summary

We're looking for a passionate and experienced pharmacy professional to take on the role of Training Programme Director for Post-registration Pharmacist Practice in the North East and Yorkshire (NEY). This is a key position within NHS England's NEY School of Pharmacy, where you'll help drive the development of high-quality post-registration education and training for pharmacists across the region.

You're a registered pharmacist with a foundation in education, training, or workforce development. You bring energy, insight, and a collaborative spirit - ready to lead, inspire, and make a lasting difference in the profession.

Main duties of the job

- Building strong partnerships with education providers, employers, supervisors and learners to ensure effective, innovative, and continuously improving educational delivery.

- Providing oversight and quality assurance of training pathways that support pharmacists in delivering excellent patient care.

- Leading workforce development initiatives aligned with national priorities and tailored to local needs.

- Engaging with colleagues across other regions to share innovations, influence national consistency, and contribute to a unified vision for post-registration pharmacist development.

- Supporting and developing educational supervisors and leading regional pharmacy training networks to ensure high-quality supervision and cross-sector learning opportunities.

About us

Our work supports the NHS to deliver high quality services for patients and best value for taxpayers.

Our staff bring expertise across hundreds of specialisms -- including clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education, and commercial -- enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.

We lead the NHS in England by:

  • Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities
  • Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential
  • Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
  • Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
  • Delivering value for money

Earlier this year, the Government announced that NHS England will gradually merge with the Department of Health and Social Care, leading to full integration. The aim is to create a smaller, more strategic centre that reduces duplication and eliminates waste.

If successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the recruitment process.
