Job summary

An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Professional Support and Wellbeing Service (PSWS) for KSS.

This is a 3 PA Training Programme Director vacancy.

The role of Training Programme Director PSWS - Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS)is to work with and support the PSWS Associate Dean and Regional PSWS Business Manager in supporting and delivering professional support and wellbeing services to resident doctors in training across the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex region.

Main duties of the job

The Training Programme Director (TPD)is professionally and managerially accountable to the Associate Dean PSWS. The TPD role will be primarily focused on managing, supporting and developing the team of Case Managers in their roles supporting individual resident doctors in training. The TPD role will also include:

  • Supporting complex cases,
  • Supporting the development of Case Managers is KSS PSWS
  • Improvement and development of existing and new PSWS services,
  • Improving engagement and awareness with the KSS educator community,
  • Deputising for the PSWS Associate Dean.

The role is evolving as the KSS Deanery operations are transferred out from the London Health Education Team (HET), foundation, GP and public health are already being supported by the SE PSWS team, with the remaining schools to transfer in the future. The role will also focus on new Workforce, Training and Education workstreams across the South-East region that relate to PSWS.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

  • Primary medical qualification (PMQ)
  • Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body
  • Hold or previously held a leadership role in medical education

Desirable

  • PGCert in Medical Education
  • Leadership development programme relevant to working in the NHS and/or education

Experience

Essential

  • Considerable experience of working with learners or resident doctors in training in an educational context and particularly those requiring
  • Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education
