Job summary
The London School of Intensive Care Medicine is seeking applications from a dynamic and enthusiastic, substantive Intensive Care Medicine Consultant to undertake the role of Training Programme Director for Simulation.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the strategic and operational development & delivery of a coordinated, regional programme of simulation mapped to the 2021 FICM curriculum. The programme will build on an already established & successful regional training day offering, integrating additional learning opportunities to deliver a sustainable blended learning package, incorporating online teaching with face-to-face sessions and simulation.
The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Postgraduate Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions within their specialty, aligned to the NHS England mandate. The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the Royal College and also guidelines and standards established within Intensive Care Medicine are met.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of School, other Intensive Care Medicine TPDs, LaSE team including; PGMDE Business Manager, Postgraduate Dean, and other key departments including Quality.
They will work with the Postgraduate Dean to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.
Main duties of the job
The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the Royal College, and guidelines and standards established within Intensive Care Medicine are met.
Key responsibilities:
Develop a new, curriculum-mapped, blended learning package of regional training events
Adapt/incorporate new content in response to trainee & trainer feedback and evolving ICM practice.
Engage with key stakeholders (including NHSE WT&E, Specialty Training Committee, TPD's, RA's, FICM, ICM Residents) to maximise accessibility to high quality training opportunities from experts in their field.
Liaise with NHSE WT&E/Technology Enhanced Learning Team to explore and utilise new technologies in delivery of RTD's /training material.
Work closely with the Head of School, Training Programme Directors and Specialty Training Committee to ensure high quality, relevant training events are delivered to meet the educational needs of all learners in LSICM
Contribute to the development and implementation of the London School of Intensive Care Medicine simulation strategy
Attendance at Specialty Training Committee and other relevant School Meetings and activities e.g. ARCP's
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Intensive Care Medicine training across the region and who will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
