Job summary

NHS England Workforce Training and Education (WTE) manages the education, training and development of NHS clinical professionals including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, doctors, dentists, nurses and allied health professionals.

This post supports pharmacy technician training across the East of England working with the Pharmacy Education team. You will be working across Integrated Care Systems (ICS) in East of England

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver on a wide range of activities and projects, as identified by post-holder's line manager.
  • Delivery of high standards of education with respect to training posts, curriculum requirements and other education programmes.
  • Commitment to national vision, policies and processes for effective educational delivery and to drive innovation and improvements to healthcare delivery.
  • Ensure appropriate signposting and support for trainees and trainers.
  • Excellent leadership and management behaviours including co-ordinating education provision, the ability to lead beyond the team and across the department.
  • Support trainer recruitment, and supervision.
  • Responsible for allocated data systems creation, management and utilisation.
  • Work with the team to deliver expert education and pharmacy advice for allocated workstreams/programmes, proposing changes as required.
  • Management of the implementation of the foundation pharmacy programme, in line with NHS England policy and requirements, contributing to the organisation of delivery in the East of England ICSs.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

  • Supporting employers, and training hubs in the ICSs to develop their local pharmacy technician workstreams.
  • Act as the point of contact for pharmacy technician enquiries
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders in identifying key steps to embed and expand multi sector training and post registration posts.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop supervision capability and capacity and the multi professional quality framework.
  • Identify and support pharmacist trainees requiring further support during their foundation training period.
  • Contribute to the availability of high-quality training and support for pharmacy technician trainees and educational supervisors.
  • Develop regional networks to provide peer support for employers and placement providers.
  • Promote the Pharmacy Technician Pre-registration Trainee (PTPT) Integrated Training Scheme with stakeholders in the ICSs.
  • Support equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives in pharmacy education.
  • Appreciate and understand how the activities and objectives of the department aligns with the wider business planning for NHS England, in particular to WTE East of England and nominated ICS(s).

The post holder (s) will be based at our Cambridge office in the East of England but may be required to work at other locations in the East of England from time to time. You will have the opportunity to work remotely as determined by the changing needs of the business.
