Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and highly technical individual to bring their skills to fill the role of an Analyst for NHS London region's Performance Information and Regulation team.
The PIR team sits within the Operations Directorate made up of three functions:
Regional Portfolio Management Office (RPMO)
Performance Information and Regulation (PIR)
Health & Care in the Community (HCIC).
The PIR function is a blended team of individuals with a variety of skills and backgrounds. We have data scientists, developers, analysts, and programme managers covering a range of topics that sit within sub-teams consisting of In-Hospital Acute Care, Out-of-hospital Community care, Population Health Management, Workforce, Intensive support, and Regulation. This role will be for an Analyst to sit within the Out-of-Hospital side of the team.
Interviewees will be assessed on their technical and analytical skills on a software of their choosing, however the dataset will be in MS Excel. Interviewees will have to present a short case study based on the test during the interview.
The team is a hybrid working team with core offices currently in Waterloo and Canary Wharf. Please note that from Apr-25 our main office should be Canary Wharf. Work related travel may be required. Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to be in the office on average, 40% of the time during the week (min two out of five working days).

Main duties of the job
Lead on analysis and create analytical tools that will help the region make organisational and strategic decisions that will improve patient care.
The post holder will:
Be working essentially with Public Health and Primary Care datasets but not exclusively.
Be a first point of contact for their specialist area to provide support and expertise.
Support managers and staff across the PIR team, the London Region the whole NHS organisation.
Engage and be part of the wider analytical community across healthcare in London and the other regions.
The post holder should have a strong analytical background:
Advanced technical analytical skills in MS Excel and be able perform statistical analysis and draw conclusions.
Intermediate to advanced skills in SQL to extract data from a variety of databases.
Experience with visualisation tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
Knowledge of R and Python will be a bonus but not essential, although the post holder will need to have capability to learn these/other languages.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

- Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject (such as Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Operational Research, or a related quantitative or analytical discipline) or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience in specialist area.
- Further training or significant experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes.

- Demonstrate an understanding of datasets and data sources including the quality and reliability of the data.
- Experience of triangulating data from different sources and demonstrate an appreciation of the differences that might occur in large datasets
