Job summary

This provides an exciting opportunity for someone looking for experience within the Professional Standards Medical Directorate in the South East.

The post holder will have a key role in supporting all functions associated with the Responsible Officer Regulations, ensuring that annual appraisals for doctors are completed appropriately and in accordance with NHS England policies. There are circa 8500 GPs within the South East, 16 Senior Appraisers and over 400 Appraisers who are engaged by NHS England to carry out the annual GP appraisals.

Main duties of the job

As a Professional Standards Appraisal and Revalidation Support colleague, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team within a virtual office environment. The post holder will be expected to provide an effective service supporting managers and staff across the South East to deliver the GP appraisal service and revalidation agenda. In particular, the post holder will support the team with monitoring the generic inboxes, sorting and prioritising all incoming mail & answering queries from GPs & appraisers on appraisal regulations and revalidation.

Key Duties:

Support the allocation of the annual appraisals for circa 8500 GPs

Support the 400 appraisers in terms of their allocations, consultancy agreements & any related queries & associated admin

Support the processing of appraiser payments for each appraisal (approx. 8500 per annum)

Assist with the processing of appraisers pension contribution payments & pension tier changes etc - SOLOs and Locum A Forms & associated admin

Responding or escalating inbox queries from GPs, appraisers, Senior Appraisers, GMC, toolkit providers, other teams/regions

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher.
