Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Programme Coordinator to join a busy Business Management Team and be part of a central business function within the Medicines Value & Access Directorate C. 85 staff which is part of the Chief Financial Officer Group within NHS England.

The postholder can be based at one of our main offices in Leeds, London or Runcorn with an expectation of a minimum of 2-3 days per week in the office and the remaining days from home. Travel to other offices will be required on an infrequent basis.

The role works as part of the business management team which facilitates and manages all operational business aspects for the directorate which is responsible for teams that ensure that NHS patients can benefit from the most clinically & cost-effective treatments whilst delivering sustainable value for the NHS and safeguarding the supply chain of everyday medicines that patients rely upon.

The post holder will need to be efficient, organised and be able to manage competing demands and move comfortably between a number of unrelated tasks, quickly picking up new things and creating or implementing items from scratch, without guidance or supervision.

Main duties of the job

As per the JD and assignment brief, with additional duties to include:

  • Provides support to the Senior Business Manager with key activities such as financial management and recruitment
  • Deputise for and support the Business Manager with all activities
  • Leads on Cancer Drugs Fund and Innovative Medicines Fund activities including financial management
  • Support directorate wide recruitment activities
  • Overall management of the team mailbox, supporting other team members to manage the mailbox on a daily basis
  • Provides regular risk and audit updates to teams and Supports the Business Manager with Risk and Audit management
  • Admin support to the Directorates Medicines related executive groups and boards
  • Deputise for other team members as required to ensure service resilience

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
