Job summary
The ARCP Lead Associate Dean will assist and work with the Head of School for General Practice in Kent, Surrey and Sussex to provide strategic and operational support in developing and managing the overall ARCP provision for GP specialty trainees.
In addition, the post holder will be responsible for leading the professional development of the primary care Educator workforce and GP specialty trainees in Kent, Surrey and Sussex in relation to Workplace Based Assessment (WPBA).
The Primary Care Department is responsible for the delivery of general practice education, alongside training and development for the multi-professional primary care workforce.

Main duties of the job
Leadership of the ARCP process
- Operational leadership of the ARCP process for GP specialty training, including the requirements of revalidation.
- Preparing for/chairing monthly ARCP panels.
- Ensuring that the KSS GP School policies are adhered to locally.
- To take part in meetings of the GP School as appropriate.
- Attendance at appropriate RCGP national meetings.
- Participation in the ARCP process of other specialty schools as part of the Quality management processes.
- Ensuring excellent attention to detail.
Professional development relating to assessment in the work place (WPBA)
- Providing training for ARCP panel members.
- Leading educational sessions for GP trainers.
- Working as a team leader in the assessment of GP trainers / training practices.
- Contributing to the educational development of team leaders and practice managers for practice visits.
- Contributing to the GP School specialty report for the RCGP.
- Lead on the 'excellent e-Portfolio'.

- Applicants, regardless of professional background, must have a track record of professionalism in line with the principles set out in Good Medical Practice and compatible with appointment in a senior clinical educator role
- Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development
- Active involvement in, and up to date with, NHS appraisal processes

- Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Master's in education
