Job summary

The Diagnostics Recovery & Transformation Programme is the largest single investment programme in the NHS in terms of capital and revenue.

The programme consists of a national team and seven regional teams with further resource devolved to ICS and diagnostic network level.

The National Specialty Adviser for Digital/AI/Industry is responsible for providing clinical advice to the Diagnostics Recovery & Transformation Programme as well as support in the development of strategy and policy relating to the programme.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be work with the other imaging specialty advisors to provide clinical input into a range of activities including:

o Digital Benefits realisation management, progress and ensuring that the intended benefits are achieved

o Work collaboratively with Deputy Directors of Imaging and Digital Diagnostics to ensure effective delivery of the digital and industry Imaging workstream priorities

o Represent the Imaging components in strategic evaluation of digital opportunities

o Support Imaging networks in achieving digital maturity and reviewing digital roadmaps with the Diagnostic Digital Capability team

o Attend the National Imaging Board providing periodic updates to stakeholders.

o Identify system risks ensuring that appropriate controls and/or mitigation are in place, escalating as appropriate

o Supports the Diagnostics & Transport Director in senior stakeholder engagement

o Monitor, interpret and quality assure progress against deliverables

  • Significant experience of working at a national or sub-national level as a clinical leader in the speciality
  • The NSA is responsible for supporting senior leaders and national programmes with the provision of clinical advice including on improving population health outcomes and narrowing health inequalities within the field.
  • The ability to build excellent collaborative networks and develop effective and mutually supportive relationships with key partners within and throughout organisations.
