Job summary
The Global Health Unit (GHU) function, within the Workforce Training and Education (WT&E) Directorate at NHS England, builds international partnerships which strengthen health systems and services in England and across the world. We collaborate with partners to plan, educate and train an international health workforce while ensuring that the benefits of global working are realised for the NHS and health systems overseas.
The Global Health Partnerships Research and Development (GHP R&D) team are responsible for ensuring our global programmes are effectively monitored and evaluated ensuring that the Unit can clearly demonstrate the impact of our work. They also commission and develop research which contributes to the high-quality evidence base which underpins everything we do.
The Research and Development Manager leads a small team which works across the Unit. They will draw on their experience of managing and delivering research projects to support team members and they will give specialist advice to teams within the unit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Support the Senior Lead in all aspects of R&D activity focused on the main streams of work within the directorate.
- Be involved in R&D activity across all GHU workstreams as well as commissioning relevant activity from external organisations such as HEI's.
- Generate and translate high quality evidence to support directorate activity and ensure timely, relevant findings feed into directorate and programme decision making.
- Have experience of using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies as well as methods of data collection and analysis.
- Have experience of analysing secondary data sources and survey data.
- Take responsibility for undertaking programme and project monitoring and evaluation activities which form part of the wider directorate strategy.
