Job summary
The East of England Health and Justice Team is responsible for commissioning healthcare in prisons, Secure Children's Homes, Immigration Removal Centres, Sexual Assault Referral Centres and Liaison & Diversion services in police custody and courts in the area. There is also a responsibility for liaising with the national team on services for people in the East of England who have formerly served in the armed forces.
As the Head of Health and Justice for the East of England Region, the post holder will lead and work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service and supporting managers and staff across the East of England. They will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Health and Justice sector and provide advice and support to lead Directors at national and regional level.
Main duties of the job
Key objectives of the role are commissioning oversight to ensure that quality assurance and patient safety remains at the heart of the commissioning functioning and that delivery of key national programmes of work for Health and Justice are achieved. The postholder will work with the national NHS England team, UK Health Security Agency, the Ministry of Justice, Youth Justice Board, HM Prisons and Probation Service and the Home Office to secure the delivery of high quality, effective and efficient integrated services locally.
The post holder will have accountability and responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the Health and Justice Sector and for liaising with the national team on the Armed Forces sector. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives.

Salary Progression Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 9 with a full-time starting salary of £99,891, with a pay step increase after 5 years service. These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
