TPD Professional Support & Wellbeing Service in Kent Surrey & Sussex
An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for the Professional Support and Wellbeing Service (PSWS) in Kent, Surrey & Sussex.
This is a 3PA (12 hrs per week) vacancy.
The South East Professional Support and Wellbeing Service (PSWS) offers support to doctors in foundation, specialty and dental training programmes who may find they need additional support to progress with their training and fulfil their career potential.
The role ofTraining Programme Director PSWS - Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS)is to work with and support thePSWS Associate Dean and Regional PSWS Business Managerinleading, supporting and delivering professional support and wellbeing services to postgraduate doctors in training across the Kent Surrey Sussex region.
The role is evolvingas the KSS Deanery operations are transferred out from the London Health Education Team (HET), foundation and public health are already being supported by the SE PSWS team, with the School of General Practice due to transfer in the middle of 2024. The role will also focuson new Workforce, Training and Education workstreams across the South-East region that relate to PSWS.
Main duties of the job
TheTraining Programme Director (TPD)isprofessionally and managerially accountable to theAssociate Dean PSWS.TheTPD role will be primarily focused on managing, supporting and developing the team of Case Managers in their roles supporting individual postgraduate doctors in training. The TPD role will also include:
- supporting complex cases,
- providing strategic leadership for the PSWS,
- improvement and development of existing and new PSWS services,
- improving engagement and awareness with the educator community,
- deputising for the PSWS Associate Dean.

The length of appointment will be for 3 years.

- Fellowship of College /Faculty, professional association and/or body
- Hold or previously held a leadership role in medical education
- Primary medical qualification
Desirable
- Qualification such as PG Cert diploma or Master of Medical Education
- Leadership development programme relevant to working in the NHS and/or education
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context and particularly trainees requiring additional support at individual and group level
- Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi professional team
- Demonstrable track record of delivery of service and education
- Applicants require a permanent contract of employment in an NHS organisation to support secondment into this role
- Applicants who are doctors require a Licence to Practise

- Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations and regulatory bodies
