Job summary

NHSE Workforce Training and Education is recruiting an Professional Development Lead - Endoscopy Administrative & Clerical roles for the South West Endoscopy Training Academy on a secondment or fixed term basis.

The purpose of the Professional Development Lead - Endoscopy Administrative & Clericals to lead on the development of Endoscopy Administrative and Clerical Training in the South West, providing regional leadership for the delivery of high quality, cross specialty, and multi-professional endoscopy training, in collaboration with the wider team who form the South West Endoscopy Training Academy.

The post holder will work closely with multiple stakeholders including NHS England colleagues, NHS Trusts, Higher Education Institutes, professional, clinical and education leads and other stakeholders. The post holder will be committed to the development of the current and future endoscopy workforce, able to demonstrate strategic thinking and innovative problem solving when approaching the complex challenge of delivering multi-professional education.

Main duties of the job

Endoscopy administrative and clerical staff play a pivotal role in highly effective and well-functioning endoscopy units and are critical to service delivery.The aim of this role is to enhance understanding of some of the issues and training requirements faced by endoscopy administration teams with a focus on admin workforce planning, training needs assessment and qualitative research around staff satisfaction and retention.

There is also the need for a further roll out of endoscopy administration competency frameworks and courses to achieve pan-SW engagement with our training programme.

SWETA will also support the development of regional admin team networks to share best practice, share challenges and improve staff satisfaction

The key outputs from the role, supported by the Academy's Clinical Lead, Senior Project Manager, and Endoscopy training academy team to:

  • Collate data on current workforce, training needs assessment and identify any issues around staff retention
  • Support the roll out and uptake of endoscopy-specific admin competency framework
  • Support the roll out and lead on the delivery of endoscopy admin workshops and courses
  • Set up support networks for the region's admin teams
  • Provide regional leadership, supporting workforce develop in endoscopy admin and clerical teams in the SW

The Nurse Lead will support the development of the South West Endoscopy Training Academy (SWETA). The Nurse Lead will provide expert professional advice to develop and lead the education and training strategy to support regional workforce expansion and ensure that regional endoscopy nurses training needs are met.

The aim of this development is to ensure provision of sustainable training capacity for SW NHS Trusts to provide a pipeline of trained endoscopy nurses to meet the workforce demands of the SW region. We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced individuals who can support the expansion of Endoscopy nurse workforce training and education in the SW region.

You should have a passion for education, a sound understanding of Endoscopy service provision, training and education, with experience of working as part of a multi-professional team and a track record of delivering projects to deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To act as a local expert resource supporting the development of a regional training programme for Endoscopy Nurses
  • To act as the main NHSE point of contact for local partners.
  • To co-ordinate training programmes within the South West, including organising and managing of large multi-professional working group meetings.
  • To develop regional networks to provide peer support for Endoscopy nurses, Practice Educators and Endoscopy colleagues
  • To work closely with multiple stakeholders in identifying key steps to enable embedding training programmes beyond the pilot phase
  • To lead regionally on the monitoring and audit of posts for quality and consistency

Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8a with a full-time starting salary of £48,526, with a pay step increase after 5 years service. These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the NHSE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
