Job summary
The Assistant Director of System Co-ordination and Oversight acts as the primary relationship manager for a System / ICS. The post holder will be the primary point of contact and support for a System, providing expert advice, guidance and coordinating improvement support. The post holder will be supporting the System with a focus on Planning and the NHS Oversight Framework.
Alongside this, our systems face significant hurdles in recovery and delivery with the post holder also supporting them with key operational challenges relating to, for example, elective care, cancer recovery and urgent care, alongside the expertise of our subject matter experts/functional leads.
This is a high profile role, operating in the Midlands region (Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, Worcestershire or Leicester) and provides a unique opportunity for the post holder to gain experience of working with executive teams in a System, often with complex challenges. As Assistant Director of System Co-ordination and Oversight the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Chief Operating Officer directorate (System Co-ordination and Oversight Team) / Midlands Area to: Act as the primary relationship contact for an Integrated Care System (ICS) (commissioners and providers) providing advice, guidance and co-ordinating support interventions to drive continuous improvement to ensure national priorities are delivered at system and organisation level to support the long term transformation of health. Support the development of ICSs, by sharing best practice and developing support for systems at each stage of maturity, improving their resilience, capability and autonomy. Undertake oversight of organisations within the ICS and systems leadership and governance including Well Led and Use of Resources. Deliver the outputs of the regional transformation programmes within the localities in conjunction with the ICS. In conjunction with other functions, develop and coordinate regional and national input and support to systems to ensure improvement with a particular focus on the most challenged systems. To work collaboratively with other functions and system partners to develop and implement sustainable strategic solutions and consider the business cases which support these changes, for the respective localities. This may include transactions and service reconfigurations. In addition to the relationship management role, the post holder will undertake a strategic role, leading on a specific priority for the team (i.e. elective / cancer / urgent care etc) Deputise for the Deputy Director of System Co-ordination and Oversight as required.
Salary Progression Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8d with a full-time starting salary of £83,571 with a pay step increase after 5 years service. These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
