Job summary

As a Provider Treasury Senior Finance Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Finance community to deliver high quality financial processes and support to NHS England and the wider NHS.

Key responsibilities will include;o Management of the provider revenue and working capital support functionso Cross system working with NHS providers to optimise cash flows whilst maintaining effective financial controlso Development of cross NHS business intelligence, to further understand cash resource usage across the NHS and further alignment with transactional managemento Contribute to the design of the banking and cash forecasting functionality of the next generation of ISFE in liaison with other key team memberso Senior management input into key cash and banking processes from a day to day management and development perspectiveo Cross working between the cash management/ transactional and accounting areas to drive efficiencies and accounting intelligenceo Senior finance management input into provider and ICS cash strategy developmento Providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorateo Other key tasks as required across the Directorate

Main duties of the job

  • As a CCAB qualified accountant, the post holder will understand and interpret NHS cash processes and the complexities of NHS Finance. Apply this knowledge to review and challenge the ICB and group cash position and to help determine funding requirements.
  • Identifying and implementing efficiencies in Treasury processes and implementing them.
  • Embedding changes across both the team and throughout the NHS England Group, where required.
  • Ability to interpret, maintain and develop national finance policy on the cash regime, communicating cash guidance on an annual and monthly basis to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise when working to time sensitive deadlines. Managing expectations, communicating effectively, and building networks with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and analytical skills to record and report on the ICS cash position each month, through the production of a monthly cash report for the Board, daily cash forecasts, and annual cash forecasts.
  • Lead a dynamic team with three direct reports and effectively manage their workloads.
  • The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.
