Job summary
Following the most recent NHS reforms, the role of health care professionals is changing with an expectation that they will be responsible for both the delivery and commissioning of high quality care for whole patient populations. Specifically, the success of these changes will depend on the engagement of clinicians and the leadership they provide (Ham, 2010). The clinical fellow programme aims to support a GDC registrant on a 12 month project-based attachments, working with Health Education NW. The aim of this post is to develop clinical leadership capability within the dental profession. In addition to work-based experience, the programme will provide participants with development over the course of the year.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to undertake the following duties:
- To attend and lead all relevant project meetings within the assigned organisation.
- To provide clinical leadership for agreed projects.
- To liaise and engage with colleagues as appropriate.
- Provide timely and effective clinical advice and leadership working with managers and staff.
- Provide written reports on project progress, including risks and issues.
- Attend study sessions, training days and development opportunities associated with the Fellowship.
- Participate in all aspects of the Fellowship scheme and its evaluation.
- Act as an ambassador for the Fellowship scheme and promote clinical leadership.
The duties and responsibilities outlined above are not intended to be exhaustive, may vary over time and are subject to management review and amendment. In the context of adhering to project deadlines there are occasions where the post holder will be expected to work beyond regular working hours to support delivery and execution of work streams.
