The New Hospital Programme's (NHP) vision statement is:

The NHP is established as a multi-functional national programme team, to drive the programme and individual project activity.
The Hospital Operations (HO) workstream is part of the Transformation Directorate which supports the NHP vision and strategic objectives from an operations lens. The work is currently formed around 3 areas:- Hospital 2.0 Target Operating Model- Assurance- Operational Readiness- Estates and Facilities Management
The Operational Readiness (OR) team will deliver proactive and systematic planning and preparations in the years and months prior to a hospital receiving patients to ensure the required processes and systems are in place to transition the patients and workforce safely and effectively and to realise the Trust's Full Business Case benefits at the earliest opportunity. The OR team is currently working towards 5 key deliverables:- OR project milestones- OR engagement with trusts- OR support tools and documents- OR reporting- OR maturity assessment framework
Main duties of the job
As Hospital Operations Assistant Director, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in the Hospital Operations Workstream of the New Hospital Programme, providing support to the Deputy Director of Hospital Operations to deliver the Hospital Operations strategy. They will collaborate with other workstreams and directorates to coordinate the respective responses for optimal Operational Readiness. This will encompass the strategic response, assurance activities, supportive approaches during operational commissioning, readiness, activation, decommissioning and post occupancy evaluations to share learning opportunities.
You will need to work with the wider team to create evidence-based operating model for new hospitals and set about answering any areas that are not understood with research learning from and capturing the voice of Patient, Public and professional groups.

You will work as part of the Hospital Operations Senior Leadership team (Hospital Operations Director, Deputy Directors for Hospital Operations and Assistant Director/s) to develop an ongoing program of work to address operational elements of the Transformation Directorate workplan. Together you will develop a learning culture in the team to enable iterative plan development to enhance the patient and staff experience in the New Hospital Programme.
The post holder will deliver an efficient, effective, and high quality professional and well-co-ordinated operational service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation. The post holder should possess a track record of leading and resolving complex issues and implementing change in large organisations/systems including experience at senior operational level in and acute healthcare environment. You will lead specific pieces of programme work on the direction of the Deputy Director of Hospital Operations to deliver overall work plan objectives.
Will be expected to critically analyse business cases and provide constructive with evaluation and lead on the development of the workstream strategy and strategically plan future programmes of work.
As the New Hospital Programme is evolving, the precise nature of the role may need to change as the programme becomes established and agreed. The post holder will need to work flexibly across several delivery areas and locations.

Salary Progression Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8d with a full-time starting salary of £83,571 with a pay step increase after 5 years service. For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £5,132 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,746 per annum. This is offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and is based on office location.
