Job summary
Listening to and learning from people's and carer's experiences of care plays a crucial part in delivering services that are safe, effective and continuously improving. Insight does not come from a single source: from a single survey, patient complaint, engagement focus group or public meeting. It's about using a combination of sources to understand a number of different issues and then to ask: "How do we use what we've found out - positive and negative - to improve the quality of every person's experience?" Insight can tell us things that other performance data cannot, particularly about how people's own personal contexts impacts on their care needs, and how the NHS treats them with dignity, compassion and respect.
At NHS England, this work is led by the Insight & Voice Team, who on behalf of NHS England and the wider NHS, oversee the commissioning of a wide range of market and social research, taking the lead for engaging on sensitive issues, and providing expert input to internal programmes. The post advertised is maternity cover acting in capacity as Insight Manager within the Insight & Voice Team. This involves leading on delivery of national surveys and large scale insight projects.
Main duties of the job
As in the job description, the person appointed will:
- Be responsible for delivering a number of projects including a large national patient experience survey and ad-hoc large scale feedback mechanisms, to develop effective approaches to the use of insight and patient feedback in the NHS, and to help improve patient experience in certain key areas.
- Have good project management skills, including the ability to plan, manage oversee and deliver projects, juggle competing priorities from multiple workstreams.
- Work autonomously to drive work forward to ensure deadlines are met, considering both personal, team, stakeholder and organisations goals and commitments.
- Anticipate and proactively manage delivery risks, quality assure and be accountable for team's products.
- Work with suppliers, researchers and a range of subject-matter experts from NHS England and other organisations and will ensure that their projects meet the needs of stakeholders and are focussed on supporting quality improvement in the NHS.
- Have the ability to quickly learn about and relay new areas of knowledge, and in particular to digest technical information and communicate this to a non-specialist audience.
