Job summary

We are recruiting for experienced Senior Intervention Claims Managers to join our Claims Strategic Intervention Team (CIT). You will bring significant expertise in managing complex personal injury and/or clinical negligence claims to resolution, playing a key role in delivering a high-quality, cost-effective claims service aligned to NHS Resolutions strategy and Business Plan.

Main duties of the job

Who we are We are NHS Resolution, an arms length body operating under the Department of Health and Social Care. At our core, we specialise in claims management, dispute resolution, and knowledge sharing within the NHS. Our purpose is to provide expertise to the NHS to resolve concerns fairly, share learning for improvement and preserve resources for patient care. Our Claims directorate is responsible for managing a total of ten indemnity schemes covering clinical and non-clinical legal liabilities of NHS organisations in England and independent sector providers of care to NHS patients. The NHS Resolution Claims Management function has embarked on a transformation and expansion programme with a vision to deliver a single, integrated claims function, with a supportive organisational structure that avoids duplication of effort and allows teams to develop their skills. What you’ll be doing:

As a Claims Intervention Manager, you will be an experienced claims technician who is proficient in managing varying complexities of clinical negligence and non-clinical personal injury compensation claims. You’ll be expected to work closely with the Team Leader, other members of the team, the mainstream Claims Teams, Technical Claims Unit and the Claims Support Directorate to achieve and maintain the highest possible standard of claims settlement and claims cost containment.

You will be responsible for research, planning, and implementing new protocols, processes and ways of working within the Claims function to identify risk, engineer processes where required and support activity aimed at minimising leakages. As well as leading data analysis/insights work to inform strategic, operational and tactical decision making including new ways of working.

You will also be required to maintain a small personal mixed caseload of clinical negligence, employers’ and public liability claims.

  • Relevant to the job qualifications - Insurance/ legal/ clinical/ medical claims qualification
  • Experience of handling complex personal injury/clinical negligence claims to a successful conclusion and experience of successfully managing a complex caseload while successfully achieving set targets
  • Able to explain complex issues to others and overcome any barriers to understanding.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the application of current law and clinical practice to clinical and personal injury claims.
  • Demonstrable evidence of the ability to plan and organise a broad range of complex activities and passion for and evidence of continuous service improvement and innovation activity.
  • Experience and /or knowledge of managing project and project-based tasks or collaboration on such initiatives.
  • An understanding of NHS Resolution business and strategic objectives and philosophy and PEER values
