Main duties of the job
As Head of Claims (Operations), in this pivotal leadership role, you'll report directly to the Deputy Director of Claims Management. You will have operational responsibility for all regional claims management teams, and you will be accountable for delivering operational performance targets aligned with NHS Resolutions strategy, and for supporting the development and implementation of processes to support new business opportunities and service innovations.
You will be part of the Claims Leadership Team, responsible for the safe and effective running of the Claims Service. You will also be expected to build and lead a high-performance culture,
identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
About us
NHS Resolution is an arms-length body of the Department of Health and Social Care. We provide expert support to the NHS in resolving concerns and disputes fairly, sharing learning for improvement, and preserving resources for patient care.
We operate several indemnity schemes on behalf of the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, primarily handling liability claims against NHS Trusts and other providers of NHS care.
Our Claims operation is one of the largest in the country, managing over 17,000 new claims annually. These include high-value, complex and often sensitive clinical negligence cases, which require careful handling and strategic oversight.
As one of the Englands leading indemnifiers, we offer candidates the opportunity to work on quality, meaningful and intellectually stimulating cases that make a real difference to patient care and NHS services.
