Domestic Assistant

Job summary

We are looking to recruit Domestic Assistants to join our new Environmental Cleaning Team at Harrogate District Hospital.

While this role includes the core duties of a Domestic Assistant, the successful applicants will primarily focus on specialist environmental cleaning tasks. This will involve scheduled replacement of curtains, cleaning of walls, ceilings, radiators, and other areas not routinely included in daily cleaning schedules.

The standard working hours for this post are 6:00am to 2:00pm Monday to Friday. However, there will be occasions where flexibility is required to access areas that cannot be cleaned during normal office hours.

You will play a key role in ensuring our hospital environment is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control. Full training will be provided, and you will work as part of a supportive team under the supervision of the Domestic Services Supervisors.

Main duties of the job

Environmental Cleaning Duties

• Undertake scheduled environmental cleaning tasks such as curtain replacement, cleaning of walls, ceilings, radiators, high-level fittings, and other areas not routinely cleaned on a daily basis.
• Work as part of a specialist team to complete planned deep-cleaning programmes across wards and departments.
• Use appropriate cleaning methods and equipment to ensure that environmental cleaning tasks are carried out to the highest standards of infection prevention and control.

Previous cleaning experience would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be given.
