Job summary

The post holder will form part of a multi-disciplinary estates team providing direct supervision and management of directly employed staff and specialist contractors.

The role will require the successful candidate to undertake the role of Authorised Person (AP) for a range of engineering services as defined within Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 00. This is to be determined by the Compliance and Mechanical Services Manager and Head of Operational Estates based on the requirements of the service. The post holder will also have key operational responsibilities for ensuring engineering services are maintained to all current statutory, mandatory and best practice requirements including full alignment with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM).

The successful candidate will be required to have substantial supervisory experience and or a willingness to undertake further training to ensure that external contractors and directly employed staff are managed in an efficient and effective manner and that all required staff timekeeping, work request completion, resources and materials, absence, appraisals, team briefs, tool box talks, health and safety and other key deliverables are a fundamental part of delivering the estates service.

Main duties of the job

The following highlights the main responsibilities of the role which includes maintenance, installation, commissioning and testing of a wide range of engineering services:

  • Carry out the role of Authorised Person (AP) for a range of engineering systems
  • Decontamination (SSD)
  • MGPS (Medical Gas Piped Systems)
  • Lifts
  • LV Electrical systems
  • Water Systems
  • Ventilation systems
  • Participate in the Trade On Call Rota
  • Automatic, Active and Passive Fire Protection
  • Support service delivery in the absence of technicians
